So, how does the movie end??
Peter learns the harsh truth that his Dad, Ego, is not quite the stellar father he hoped for and gave Peter's mother the cancerous tumor on purpose.
He doesn't want to take up a Father and Son business with the old man, especially when he finds out what happened to his half-brothers and sisters. So Rocket creates a bomb that will detonate in Ego's brain 'area', and destroy him. First they need Baby Groot to understand which button to press...
Meanwhile the golden Sovereign aliens show up again to fight the Guardians, while Mantris keeps Ego occupied and docile.
Attacked from all sides by the Sovereigns, they detonate one ship - taking out Nebula and her people's drones - while Yondu rescues Peter from the explosion - who realises that Yondu is the father he never had.
Baby Groot manages to push the correct button, and the planet is about to explode. Peter gives Drax the flight suit, who takes an unconscious Mantis to safety. As the last two survivors, Yondu uses his arrow to take him and Peter away from the planet - and then gives Peter the last spacesuit capsule device as he dies outside of the planet's atmosphere.
Back on the main ship, Yondu's only loyal remaining crewmate gives Peter a new mp3 tracklist. And as they send the body of Yondu out into space for burial, all the rival Ravager pirate gangs show up, led by Sly Stallone, to pay homage now that they know what Yondu did.
